Jaideep Bihani, convenor of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad hoc committee, raised serious concerns over the nature of RR&rsquo;s defeat. In an interview with News18 Rajasthan, Bihani alleged that there may have been match-fixing involved.&nbsp;
He recalled the franchise&rsquo;s tainted history, referring to the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal that led to the arrest of players and a two-year suspension for the team due to betting charges involving co-owner Raj Kundra.
Bihani stated, &ldquo;On the home ground, how did they lose when requiring so few runs in the final over?&rdquo; He called on the BCCI and relevant investigative agencies to probe the match.
The controversy doesn't end there. Bihani also claimed that the Rajasthan Cricket Association was sidelined from IPL hosting duties under &ldquo;baseless excuses.&rdquo; According to him, although the BCCI initially sent the hosting correspondence to RCA, the Rajasthan Sports Council and Rajasthan Royals took over, citing a lack of a formal MoU with the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. He questioned the rationale: &ldquo;If MoU is not there, so what? Aren&rsquo;t you paying Sports Council for every match?&rdquo;
He added that the ad hoc committee, appointed by the state government, had received its fifth extension due to successful administration. &ldquo;During our tenure, we&rsquo;ve conducted all competitions successfully right from the district level to the national level. However, as soon as the time for hosting IPL came, the Sports Council took control of it,&rdquo; Bihani said.
This is not the first time RR has choked under pressure this season. In another earlier match against Delhi Capitals, the Royals failed to score nine runs in the last over despite having seven wickets in hand and eventually lost in a Super Over. Following four consecutive defeats, they now sit eighth in the points table, with just two wins from eight matches and four points overall.
Their most recent defeat on April 19 in Jaipur also witnessed a significant IPL moment&mdash;14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his debut, becoming the youngest player in the history of the league. Meanwhile, Sanju Samson was absent due to injury, and is expected to miss the next fixture as well.

During a session on Cricbuzz, Doull opined that if the curator at Eden Gardens continues to disregard the home team's wishes, KKR should consider changing their home ground. Doull expressed that the curator's role is to accommodate the home team's preferences, as they finance the use of the stadium during the IPL. "If he's still not paying heed to what the home team wants, then just move the franchise away to somewhere else," Doull commented, emphasizing that the curator should not impose his opinions on the game.
Harsha Bhogle also shared a similar viewpoint, stating that a home team should have a pitch tailored to benefit their bowlers. "I saw something about what the KKR curator has said," Bhogle noted.
However, the CAB is backing curator Mukherjee, asserting that he is adhering to official BCCI guidelines, which prohibit franchises from dictating the specific nature of pitch preparation. KKR&rsquo;s captain, Ajinkya Rahane, reportedly requested a spin-friendly wicket to support their key bowlers such as Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine, but the pitch often ended up being more conducive to pace, resulting in high-scoring matches.

Peters, who hails from Grenada, is a two-time world champion and Rohler is the gold-medallist from the 2016 Olympics. Chopra said he has also invited Pakistani Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem who is, however, yet to confirm participation.
"I have sent invitation to Arshad and he said he will get back to me after discussing with his coach. As of now he is yet to confirm participation," Chopra told reporters in a virtual media interaction.
The competition has been granted category A status by World Athletics.
"I wanted the event in Panchkula but there are certain issues related to lighting at the stadium there. World Athletics requirement is 600 lux (a measure of the intensity of light), which is not there (in Panchkula) and it will take time (to install it)," he said.
"So, we have decided to shift the event to Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. We have a team there and it will be lot easier for the event to be staged there," said the 27-year-old who is also supported by Bengaluru-based JSW Sports.
The event will be jointly organised by Chopra and JSW Sports in collaboration with the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) and World Athletics, featuring top global as well as Indian javelin throwers.
Besides Peters, who also won a bronze medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics, and Rohler, the participation of Kenyan Julius Yego, a silver-medallist in the 2016 Rio Olympics besides being a 2015 World Championships gold winner, and American Curtis Thompson, who is the current season leader with 87.76m, has also been confirmed.
"A Brazilian, who qualified for the final in (Paris Olympics) has also confirmed participation," Chopra said without giving name, though it could be Luiz da Silva, who finished 11th in Paris with a best throw of 80.67m.
"I'm very much involved in the organisation of the event, which is a dream come true for me. I am also competing. Yesterday, I spoke to Rohit (Yadav) and three to four Indians will be competing. It will be a very good opportunity to get ranking points for World Championships in Tokyo (in September)." He said his current coach Jan Zelezny, the legendary world record holder, suggested that the event should be named after the Indian superstar.
"I was talking to Zelezny about this event and he said that it would be good if it is named after me.
"I am very excited. I have won Olympic and other medals for the country. Now with this event, I am giving back something to Indian athletics, to Indian athletes and the fans." He said the NC Classic will be an annual competition and he is hoping that events other than javelin will be added in the future.
"I wanted to state that this event will be an annual affair. As of now, it will be just a men's javelin event. But in future, I am hoping that women's event and other events will also be added.
"If you ask me, I want a Diamond League Meeting to be held in India. We have the stadium to host DL Meetings, and it will be good for World Athletics also to spread athletics. World Athletics knows that athletics is growing in India." The fans will need to buy tickets to watch the NC Classic javelin event.
"There will be tickets for the event, for different boxes. But we will try that the ticket price is not too much. The fans should feel the ticket price is worth the enjoyment of watching the event," said Chopra.

His second half-century of the season came off just 26 balls, and his partnership with Rohit added 114 runs off only 54 balls.
Despite a decent start from CSK&rsquo;s debutant Ayush Mhatre (32 off 15 balls) and half-centuries from Shivam Dube (50 off 32 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (53* off 35 balls), CSK&rsquo;s total was never enough. MI's disciplined bowling attack, led by Trent Boult and Hardik Pandya, kept the run rate under control for much of CSK&rsquo;s innings, and it was only due to the late surge from Dube and Jadeja that CSK managed to set a competitive total.

Former India skipper Mohammed Azharuddin is planning to approach the Telangana High Court, seeking a stay on Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) Ombudsman's order to remove his name from North Stand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Justice (Retd) V Eswaraiah, who is also HCA's ethics officer, made the decision on basis of a petition filed by Lords Cricket Club -- one of HCA's member units -- which alleged that Azharuddin misused his position as then HCA President by taking arbitrary decisions.
The petition alleged that the veteran of 99 Tests and 334 ODIs violated HCA rules by sitting in the Apex Council meeting as former HCA president to get the resolution passed on naming the North Stand after him in December 2019, barely a month after he became association chief.
According to HCA constitution, a resolution needs to be ratified by the General body.
"I will definitely take legal recourse and will be appealing to the High Court to stay this order. It is a shame that an India captain's name is being asked to be removed," Azharuddin told PTI.
The former India skipper also questioned the validity of Ombudsman's order, saying his tenure has already ended.
"As per by-laws of the association, the Ombudsman/Ethics Officer's tenure is for one year. In this case, the Ombudsman's tenure had ended on February 18, 2025 and any order passed after that period is null and void.
"He hasn't got extension, which can only be given during the AGM which hasn't happened. So how did he pass an order," the 62-year-old asked.
Azharuddin alleged that he is being targetted because a few HCA officials couldn't indulge in corrupt practices during his tenure as president.
He was elected HCA President in September 2019 and term ended in September 2023. During his controversial term Supreme Court appointed a one-man committee of Justice L Nageswara Rao to manage the affairs of the association in February 2023.
The opposition faction alleged that people related to Azharuddin were involved in selection scandals in age-group teams, a charge vehemently denied by the former cricketer, who scored more than 15,000 runs in international cricket.
"Crooks, who have never held a bat in their hands are pointing fingers at me. If they want to remove my name from the stand, the man who played 433 games for India, then you might as well take down Shivlal Yadav's (former India off-spinner) name as it was also done when he himself was the HCA president.
"You take down names of Abid Ali, Tiger Pataudi and ML Jaisimha. This is one association that doesn't respect players. And on whose petition, the Ombudsman is acting? The club (Lords Cricket Club) where there is no transparency as to who is the actual owner and who runs it," he said.
Another allegation was removal of VVS Laxman's name from the North Stand and putting his name on it.
"Am I fool to remove a legend like Laxman's name from the stand, the only man who has played 100 plus Tests from our region? In the North Stand, the pavilion is named after Laxman and it is still there, you can check," he clarified.
When an HCA official was approached as to why there are separate rules for Azharuddin and Shivlal, he replied: "In case of Shiv, he was instrumental in building this stadium and he got his name on the stands after due approval from HCA general body." "In case of Azhar, he never approached the General Body as he knew he didn't have the numbers to get it ratified." Azharuddin also launched a tirade against HCA president Jagan Mohan Rao.
"This is one association, which doesn't know how to respect its stars. Look at how Sunrisers Hyderabad were harassed for extra free tickets and BCCI had to intervene. Since I have raised questions about their manner of functioning, this has happened but I will not take these insults lying down," he warned.&nbsp;

Led by Will Jacks who played a decisive role with a fine 36 (26 balls, 3x4s, 3x6s) after a crucial spell of 3-0-14-2, Mumbai Indians executed an all-round show to record their second consecutive win.
The home side came on top for having assessed the Wankhede Stadium pitch accurately and adapting quickly to the conditions it presented, with each of the pieces falling in place for the five-time winners.
MI&rsquo;s fast bowlers used the short and slower balls well throughout the first innings and nailed their yorkers perfectly. In the run chase, the MI batters showed a clear plan to keep finding the boundaries which kept them on top.
Chasing 163 on a pitch which had grip and turn, MI were also benefited by SRH&rsquo;s reluctance to bring on spin in the powerplay, as the home side made 166/6 in 18.1 overs to record their third win of the season.
Even though Rohit Sharma endured another failure after a promising start in which he made 26 off 16 balls with three sixes, he gave MI the momentum with the bat and the others capitalised on it.
Opener Ryan Rickelton made a fluent 31 while Suryakumar Yadav hammered two sixes and as many fours to make 26 (off 15 balls) to provide a strong support to Jacks.
Captain Hardik Pandya played a crucial cameo of 21 off just nine balls to take MI to the threshold of victory. Tilak Varma (21 not out) then took MI over the line after a late minor hiccup as the home side reached 166 for 6 in 18.1 overs.
In the first half, Sunrisers Hyderabad found late momentum with the bat to fight their way through and post 162 for 5.
With the surface at the Wankhede Stadium providing grip and turn for the spinners and slower deliveries giving dividends to the pace bowlers, Sunrisers Hyderabad batters struggled to adapt to the wicket for most part of the innings.
But a big finish -- 57 runs coming off the last five overs -- gave SRH some much-needed impetus towards the end.
MI bowlers were spot-on in formulating their plans and near-perfect in their execution with Jasprit Bumrah delivering a measly 4-0-21-1, Trent Boult nailing his yorkers again to return 4-0-29-1 and Will Jacks producing an impressive 3-0-14-2.
The SRH struggle was evident from the start even as Abhishek Sharma stroked his way to 40 off 28 balls with seven boundaries.
It all started with an eventful first over when the two SRH openers got a reprieve each off Deepak Chahar.
Abhishek went down the wicket, swinging his bat on the first delivery. The ball shaped away slightly to take the edge but Jacks failed to get hold of it.
On the fourth delivery, Travis Head played one straight to Karn Sharma at midwicket where he failed to pluck a low catch as the ball fell just short of him.
Abhishek looked to be hitting his strides when he smacked three fours off Chahar in the fifth over but there was just no momentum gained.
Raj Angad Bawa timed his dive to grab the ball to dismiss Abhishek off Pandya for the first breakthrough and by then it was evident that SRH would have to scrape their way through to a competitive total.
Jacks then had former MI player Ishan Kishan stumped for a mere two.
Head was unable to open up even as he tried his best to cut loose. Despite having caught off a no-ball with Pandya overstepping, Head failed to capitalise as he fell for an ordinary 29-ball 28.
Such was the impact of MI&rsquo;s control that the first six of the game came as late as in the 18th over -- the best one of SRH&rsquo;s innings &mdash; when Heinrich Klaasen (37 off 28 balls, 3x4s, 2x6s) took 21 runs to spoil Chahar&rsquo;s figures (4-0-47-0).
In the final over, Aniket Verma hit a couple of sixes and Pat Cummins smacked one to take vital 22 runs off Pandya.

The Resistance Front (TRF), which is a part of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group, claimed responsibility for the attack. The attack has drawn strong condemnation from across the world.

Reacting strongly to the allegations, the Rajasthan Royals have lodged a formal complaint with the Chief Minister, Sports Minister, and Sports Secretary, urging them to take appropriate action against Bihani.
Deep Roy, a senior official with the franchise, firmly denied the accusations, calling them &ldquo;false, baseless, and without any evidence.&rdquo;

They reaffirmed that all operations are in line with BCCI protocols, under which the Rajasthan Sports Council currently holds the rights to host IPL matches in Jaipur.
According to the Royals, the tournament is being managed in coordination with the Council and the BCCI, under the state government's oversight, to ensure its smooth execution. Meanwhile, Bihani emphasized that the RCA has a history of successfully hosting ICC-BCCI international fixtures in the state.
However, he accused the Sports Council of undermining the RCA&rsquo;s role, stating that &ldquo;The State Sports Council kept the RCA ad hoc committee away from organising the IPL. They did not even make accreditation cards for the members related to the event,&rdquo; and alleged that &ldquo;the Sports Council is conspiring against sports interests by keeping the ad hoc committee formed by the government away from the IPL match being held in Jaipur.&rdquo;

His clarification came a day after the CAB's letter to the BCCI, sent about 10 days ago by its secretary Naresh Ojha, was revealed in media reports. In the letter, the body asked for the removal of Bhogle and New Zealand's Simon Doull from the commentary panel for matches in Kolkata after they stated that the Eden Gardens pitch was not helping the local franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.
"There are some inappropriate conclusions being drawn about why I wasn't at yesterday's game in Kolkata. Quite simply, it wasn't on the list of matches I was down to do!" Bhogle posted on 'X'.
"Asking me would have resolved the issue. Rosters are done before the tournament starts. I was rostered for two games in Kolkata. I was there for the first and an illness in the family prevented me from being at the 2nd," he added without specifying the games.
KKR played against Gujarat Titans at the Eden Gardens on Monday and lost by 39 runs.
Both KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane and head coach Chandrakant Pandit have demanded a more spin friendly track at the venue and expressed their frustration at not being given a track that suits their attack featuring Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine and Moeen Ali.
