IPL 2024 Auction: From CSK to RCB, MI to KKR - What to expect from every franchise

The high-stakes auctions for the 2024 IPL season are scheduled for December 19. All 10 teams would be geared up to get the best deals ahead of the tournament.

IPL 2024 Auction: From CSK to RCB, MI to KKR - What to expect from every franchise

It may not be a mega IPL auction but stakes will be high come December 19 with a total of 333 players going under the hammer as the 10 franchises engage in a bidding war.

Title-jinxed RCB will look to reboot their bowling attack, with some quality pacers like Harshal Patel and Josh Hazelwood being released ahead of the auction.

With in-form batters like Shreyas Iyer and Rinku Singh already on their roster, KKR will seek bowlers who can deliver on the tracks in Eden Gardens.

With CSK’s stable top order, Chennai may need to strengthen their middle order. The team may bid for a finisher to back MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja.

There is a Hardik Pandya-shaped hole in the Gujarat Titans. The 2022 winners are likely to put their money on an all-rounder.

Rishabh Pant’s return is welcome news for the Delhi Capitals. However, the franchise still needs to revamp its middle-order batting.

Rajasthan Royals’ squad remains largely unchanged and balanced. With Avesh Khan, they have bolstered their pace attack. Even though they have got all their bases covered, they will surely try to sign 1-2 big names with their 14.5 Crore purse.LSG go into the auction with a shallow purse. The franchise will ideally look for one Indian and one overseas fast bowler to form a well-rounded team.

Experienced top-order, a huge purse and in-form bowlers – Punjab Kings look solid on paper every year but somehow fail to deliver on the field. A strong all-rounder and finisher, are likely the need of the hour.

The Mumbai Indians are loaded with experience but seem to fall short of international players. Reports say MI will look for seam and spin bowling options this time around.

Sunrisers Hyderabad haven’t looked threatening ever since Rashid Khan’s departure 2 years back. They will seek to rope in a spinning option in the IPL Auction.
