IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals set to release Sarfaraz Khan and Manish Pandey, say reports

All 10 IPL franchies are diligently curating their retention list for the 2024 as the November 26 deadline looms large. They are strategically aligning their resources for the players’ mini-auction slated for the following month. The league's dynamic landscape has already witnessed significant player movements, with Rajasthan Royals trading Devdutt Padikkal for Lucknow Super Giants’ Avesh Khan.

Now, as per reports, Delhi Capitals (DC) are poised to make pivotal decisions by releasing certain players from their roster as they prepare to participate in the auction extravaganza set to unfold in Dubai on December 19.

Sarfaraz Khan, despite being a domestic stalwart, failed to make a substantial impact in the IPL last season, mustering a mere 53 runs in four games with an average of 13.25. Over the span of his 50-match IPL career, he has accumulated 585 runs at an average of 22.50 and a commendable strike rate of 130.58, featuring a solitary fifty.

Similarly, Manish Pandey endured a subpar IPL 2023 campaign for the Capitals, tallying 160 runs from ten matches at an average of 17.78. Renowned as the first Indian to achieve a century in the IPL, the 34-year-old has amassed 3808 runs from 170 IPL appearances. There are speculations that CSK might trade him in for the forthcoming season.

Adding to the narrative is the highly anticipated return of DC captain Rishabh Pant after a hiatus necessitated by a harrowing car crash in December of the previous year. Having diligently rehabilitated at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, Pant is poised to make a triumphant comeback through IPL 2024.

Auctions in Dubai

As the cricketing world gears up for the IPL 2024 auctions in Dubai on December 19, the intrigue intensifies, with enthusiasts eagerly awaiting how each franchise strategically shapes its team for another thrilling season.
