IPL franchise owners ready to invest in BBL teams if league is privatised

The Big Bash League is completely under the ownership of Cricket Australia but according to a report in News Corp, if it follows IPL's lead and privatises the tournament, it will attract key Indian Premier League owners.

One of Rajasthan Royals' advisory board members, Ravneet Gill said that Australia is such a massive cricketing superpower and there is no reason why the Big Bash should not be up there. 'If BBL gets privatised, there would be a lot of interest from Indian investors,' he added.

Many IPL teams have been eager to invest in other leagues with the Knight Riders owners having sister franchises in the Caribbean Premier League and Major League Cricket in the USA. The Rajasthan Royals already have a stake in T20 leagues in the Caribbean, South Africa, and the UAE.

The BBL was an immediate hit when it was started in 2011 but since a lot of domestic T20 leagues coming up and players are unavailable to play, its popularity took a big hit post-2018.
