IPL Media Rights sold, BCCI set to make huge profit

BCCI sold the IPL media rights for a whopping Rs 44,075 crore which included the TV and Digital media rights for the next 5 years. The Indian cricket board sold packages A and B to separate bidders on the 2nd Day of the e-auction on Monday.

Reportedly, Package A, the coveted Indian TV subcontinent rights were retained by Disney Star for Rs 23,575 crore and Package B, the digital rights were sold to Viacom18 for 20,500 crores. The board will give the official confirmation after the completion of the e-auction.

For 410 matches, where the board had pegged Rs 49 crore/match for TV and Rs 33 crore/match for digital, BCCI got Rs 44,075 crore. BCCI sold the TV rights for Rs 57.5 crore/match and the digital rights for Rs 50 crore/match.

For their last rights of 5 years, DisneyStar had paid Rs 16,347.5 crores to BCCI.

The remaining auction for Package C (set of 18 non-exclusive matches) and Package D (overseas rights) will resume on Tuesday. As per reports, Day 2 of the bidding on Monday ended at a bid of 18.5 crore/match for Package C against the reserve price of Rs 16 crore.
