Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been officially reprimanded and received a demerit point for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. This incident took place on the fourth day of the ongoing first Test match between India and England in Hyderabad. The breach occurred during the 81st over of England's second innings, where Bumrah was found guilty of deliberately obstructing Ollie Pope's path during a run, resulting in inappropriate physical contact.

Being his first offence within a 24-month period, Bumrah has had one demerit point added to his disciplinary record. The charges were brought against him by the on-field umpires, Paul Reiffel and Chris Gaffaney, along with third umpire Marais Erasmus and fourth umpire Rohan Pandit.

Typically, Level 1 breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct entail a minimum penalty ranging from an official reprimand to a maximum fine of 50% of the player's match fee, along with the possibility of one or two demerit points being imposed.

Bumrah acknowledged his wrongdoing and accepted the penalty assigned by match referee Richie Richardson. His admission of guilt and acceptance of the sanction meant that no formal hearing was necessary to resolve the matter.
