Malan, Moeen shine as England clinch ODI series 3-1 with 100-run win against New Zealand | ENG vs NZ

Dawid Malan's brilliant ton and Moeen Ali's 4/50 with the ball played pivotal roles in England's triumph over New Zealand at Lord's.

Malan, Moeen shine as England clinch ODI series 3-1 with 100-run win against New Zealand | ENG vs NZ

In the final clash of the four-match ODI series, England displayed a formidable performance, powered by Dawid Malan's impressive century and Moeen Ali's superb bowling figures of 4-50. Their efforts led to a convincing 100-run victory over New Zealand, allowing England to secure the series 3-1, despite having gone down 0-1 initially.

Dawid Malan's stellar 127 off 114 balls laid the foundation for England, setting up a competitive total. However, New Zealand faced an uphill task to chase the target of 312 at Lord's. Their innings faced early challenges, losing key wickets, including Devon Conway and Will Young, and struggling to maintain the required scoring rate. England's disciplined bowlers, especially Moeen Ali, maintained consistent lines and lengths, restricting New Zealand's progress.

As the ball aged, Moeen Ali, supported by Liam Livingstone, applied further pressure on New Zealand's batting lineup. Moeen Ali's crucial wickets of New Zealand skipper Tom Latham and Henry Nicholls significantly hampered New Zealand's chase. Despite Rachin Ravindra's valiant efforts with a fifty, New Zealand couldn't regain control in the chase.

New Zealand faced obstacles early in the game due to injuries, impacting their bowling resources. While Tim Southee fractured his thumb in the 14th over, Daryl Mitchell and Ben Lister also got injured later. Despite these challenges, Rachin Ravindra impressed with a 4-wicket haul. However, New Zealand's inability to assert control in both bowling and batting ultimately led to England's triumph and their 3-1 series victory.
