N Jagadeesan apologises for obscene gesture after being Mankaded In TNPL

Tamil Nadu cricketer Narayan Jagadeesan has issued an apology for an indecent gesture after his dismissal in the opening match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) on Thursday.

Baba Aparajith ran-out Jagadeesan for backing at the non-striker end, which was earlier called Mankading, following which the opening batter lost his cool. After being judged out, Jagadeesan turned around to show his middle finger in the bowler's direction. He then repeated the action again.

After backlash from the fans, Jagadeesan realised it was a mistake and took to social media to write an apology note. He wrote that cricket has always been what he lives for and the sportsmanship that comes along with the sport is something he deeply respects. This is why it's very hard for him to digest how he reacted.

'No excuses for what has been done. I will do better and be better,' he added while regretting his action.

Mankading was earlier part of 'Unfair Play' section of the MCC but a while back the custodians of the Laws of Cricket accepted Mankading as a normal mode of running out the non-striker.
