Nasir Hossain: Bangladesh all-rounder banned by ICC for 2 years

Bangladeshi cricketer Nasir Hossain has been handed a two-year ban from all forms of cricket for violating the Emirates Cricket Board’s Anti-Corruption Code (6 months suspension served). The ICC, acting as the Designated Anti-Corruption Official under the ECB Code, charged Hossain in September 2023. He admitted to three charges brought against him.

The first charge against Hossain involved failing to promptly report the receipt of a gift exceeding US$750, specifically a new iPhone 12, to the Designated Anti-Corruption Official. Additionally, he did not fully disclose details of an approach or invitation to engage in corrupt conduct received through the iPhone 12.

The third charge pertained to Hossain's refusal or failure to cooperate with the investigation into potential corrupt conduct. This included not providing accurate and complete information or documentation requested by the Designated Anti-Corruption Official, as part of the investigation.

The ICC stated that the 32-year-old cricketer acknowledged these violations and consented to the imposed sanction. "Subject to him satisfying the conditions in respect of the suspended part of the sanction, he will be free to resume international cricket on 7 April 2025," the ICC clarified.

Hossain was among eight individuals linked to the Pune Devils franchise who faced charges related to corruption during the 2020-21 Abu Dhabi T10 tournament.

Having last represented Bangladesh in 2018, Hossain has played in 19 Tests, 65 ODIs, and 31 T20s for his country.
