Ishan Kishan was sidelined from the Team India squad as BCCI announced the team for the first two Test matches against England which is scheduled to take place from January 25 in Hyderabad.

Ishan Kishan, the wicket-keeping batter, was not included in the India Test team for the opening two games of their five-match Test series against England, even though head coach Rahul Dravid had addressed his disciplinary concerns.

The two choices for wicket-keeping are KL Rahul and KS Bharat, with Dhruv Jurel being called up to make his debut.

Kishan departed the team mid-tour, citing personal reasons, hence he was unable to play in India's two-match Test series against South Africa. After a hectic few months with the Indian team, it was claimed that the 25-year-old had asked for a sabbatical because of mental fatigue.

After departing South Africa, Kishan reportedly flew to Dubai, which infuriated the team management and led to his exclusion from India's three-match T20I series against Afghanistan at home.

However, Dravid cleared the air around the reports of indiscipline on Kishan’s part, saying the wicket-keeping batter was not picked for the Afghanistan series because he had not made himself available for selection.

"Ishan Kishan was not available for selection. Ishan requested for a break, which we agreed in South Africa. We supported it. He has not yet made himself available. When he is available, he will play domestic cricket and make himself available for selection,” said Dravid.

To regain his place in the Test team, Kishan is now anticipated to participate in first-class domestic cricket. Debasish Chakraborty, secretary of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association, claims that Kishan has not contacted anyone regarding his availability for the current Ranji Trophy season.

The series' opening game is scheduled for January 25–29 in Hyderabad, while the second Test is scheduled for February 2–6 in Vishakapatnam.
