'ODI cricket just a drag now': Wasim Akram urges authorities to scrap the 50-over format

Ben Stokes' shocking retirement from ODIs has sparked a huge debate in the cricketing world over players being overburdened due to a packed cricketing calendar.

Former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram also had his say and has urged cricket authorities to scrap one-day cricket from the calendar. During a chat with The Telegraph, the veteran pacer said that even as a commentator one-day cricket is just a drag now, especially after T20.

Akram feels that ODI cricket is dying due to the different T20 leagues around the world, which he believes is part and parcel of the modern cricket. 'It is quite tiring for a player to play one-day cricket. After T20, an ODI seems it is going for days,' added the 56-year-old.
