Suryakumar Yadav to wear Sanju Samson's jersey even in 2nd India vs West Indies ODI

A T-shirt size issue and a delay in receiving a new jersey led to Suryakumar Yadav taking the field for the first ODI against West Indies wearing Sanju Samson's jersey in Barbados on Thursday.

On the eve of the game, Surya informed the team management about the sizing problem with his jersey and despite participating in a photo shoot with it, he requested a change to a larger size.

Unfortunately, the jersey provided to Yadav on match day also turned out to be a 'medium' instead of the requested 'large'.

In light of the situation, the Mumbai batter approached Sanju Samson, who was not part of the playing XI, to lend him his jersey for the match. The Indian team had chosen Ishan Kishan over Samson for the first ODI, which India won by five wickets.

As per the rules, players are not permitted to tape over the names printed on the back of their jerseys, leaving Surya with no option but to don the T-shirt with Samson's name.

It has been learned that the new jersey will only be made available to Yadav after the second ODI on Saturday. The BCCI has shipped it with the Indian team players selected for the T20I series. And that means, Surya will have to don Samson's jersey once again for the second game in Barbados.
