T20 WC: Kane Williamson returns to T20Is against Bangladesh, Virat & Rohit's future uncertain

With less than six months to the T20 World Cup, participating teams have begun work to put together their best players for the tournament in the US.

In a similar move, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson made a return to the T20I squad for the upcoming home series versus Bangladesh.

The 33-year-old will lead his team for a 3-match series starting December 27, 2023.

Williamson last played a T20 International game against India in November 2022 in a bilateral series at home.

In contrast, Williamson's India counterpart Rohit Sharma and peer Virat Kohli's T20I future hangs in the balance.

The two senior Indian cricketers did not feature in India's recently concluded T20I series vs South Africa giving rise to questions about their fate in the squad ahead of the World Cup.

Neither has played any T20Is since the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Before June, India only play one more T20I series vs Afghanistan and then the IPL gets underway.

Meanwhile, New Zealand will play Pakistan and Australia in two different T20I series before their players take part in the IPL.
