Jay Shah’s journey through the cricketing world has been nothing short of meteoric. Starting as a board member with the Central Board of Cricket, Ahmedabad, in 2009, Shah has steadily climbed the ranks, and now, he's poised to become the next ICC chairman.

As per reports, with the backing of heavyweights like the Australian and England Cricket Boards, Shah seems to have all the numbers in his favor to take the reins once Greg Barclay’s term ends.

Shah’s influence in cricket began to take shape when he played a crucial role in the construction of the Narendra Modi Stadium, the world’s largest cricket venue, while serving as the joint secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association in 2013.

His rise continued in 2015 when he joined the BCCI, contributing to the finance and marketing committee. By 2019, he was elected as the youngest-ever secretary of the BCCI, a position he was re-elected to in 2022.

Shah also became the BCCI’s representative at ICC meetings in 2019 and later chaired the ICC’s Finance and Commercial Affairs committee. His efforts were instrumental in pushing cricket’s inclusion in the Asian Games and advocating for its return to the Olympics.

If Jay Shah ascends to the ICC chairmanship, he will become the third Indian and the youngest to ever hold this prestigious position, following in the footsteps of Jagmohan Dalmiya and Sharad Pawar.
