'Wanted to hurt Sachin': Shoaib Akhtar reveals shocking intention during 2006 India vs Pakistan Test

The famed Rawalpindi Express Shoaib Akhtar revealed his shocking intention during the 2006 Test between India and Pakistan which Pakistan won eventually.

In the said Test, Irfan Pathan had torn down the batting line-up in the first innings of the 3rd Test, picking 3 wickets in the first over. Recalling it, the former Pakistan pacer told Sportskeeda that the morale of the team was really down after they could put 240 runs on board. However, spirited to take down India, Akhtar said he intentionally wanted to hurt Sachin Tendulkar.

'I intentionally wanted to hit Sachin in that Test match, I was determined that I had to wound Sachin in that Test at any cost' Akhtar said. Akhtar did hit the ace Indian batter on his helmet, but Tendulkar managed to save his head in the Karachi Test.

While Akhtar couldn't do much, Mohd Asif wreaked havoc on India, picking up a total of 7 wickets in 2 innings and thereby helping Pakistan win by whopping 341 runs. Sachin Tendulkar in that particular Test could only score 23 (29) in the first and 26 (47) in 2nd innings.
