Team India registered an emphatic win in the final of the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup against England to lift the trophy for a historic 5th time. After electing to bat first, England lost early wickets courtesy a brilliant opening spell from Ravi Kumar. Ravi, who finished with figures of 4-34, took two wickets initially and later came back to mop up the tail.

The destroyer in chief was Raj Bawa, as he collected 5 wickets for a mere 31 runs to register the best bowling figures in an Under-19 World Cup Final. Despite wickets falling at regular intervals, James Rew batted with flair to prevent the English from crumbling under pressure. Right through the world cup, the Indian spinners dominated against the opposition, but the final belonged to the seamers. A couple of lower order partnerships ensured England reached 189 after being reduced to 91-7.

On a slow wicket, the Indian batters were off to a poor start with Angkrish Raghuvanshi falling on the second ball of the innings. Harnoor Singh and vice-captain Shaik Rasheed took India to safety with a 49 run stand. Rasheed scored a cautious 84-ball 50 before perishing. As India lost him and Captain Yash Dhull in quick succession, England staged a remarkable fightback. But Nishant Sindhu slammed the door shut with an unbeaten 50 off 54 balls to guide the young Indian side to a remarkable victory. With 4 wickets and 14 balls left, the boys in blue reached the target to register a gritty win. This was the fifth ICC under-19 world cup title for India, the most in the tournament's history.
