Kuldeep Yadav's journey back to Dharamsala, the site of his Test debut in 2017, marks a poignant moment of reflection and resurgence for the left-arm wrist spinner. Over the past seven years, Kuldeep has encountered a series of ups and downs in his career. However, his recent performances suggest he has rediscovered his form, attributing this success to a deeper understanding of his craft and improved physical fitness.

"It was an interesting phase. It has been seven years since (debut). I have become a lot more mature about my bowling. I understand my game a lot better now. I know how to read the wicket," Kuldeep remarked, highlighting his growth and maturity as a player.

Regular participation in the ongoing series has significantly boosted Kuldeep's confidence. Despite having only 12 Test appearances over seven years, including four consecutive matches in the current series against England, Kuldeep's recent spell on the opening day of the fifth Test showcased his enhanced skills, claiming five top-order wickets.

"If you play regularly, you get more confident about your bowling. Game awareness also comes with it. It is very important to keep playing regularly as it makes your bowling sharp," Kuldeep expressed, emphasizing the importance of consistent game time for a player's development.

Kuldeep's journey has not been without its challenges. Inconsistent opportunities, a dip in form, and a knee surgery have tested his resolve. Yet, through technical adjustments and a targeted fitness regimen, Kuldeep has managed to regain his magic. He noted the changes in his bowling approach, particularly in Ranchi, where he adapted his run-up to the crease's pace, reflecting his commitment to continuous improvement.

"Following a knee surgery in September 2021, Kuldeep changed his fitness routine, increased his pace and straightened his run-up," he shared, underscoring the link between fitness and performance. His efforts paid off with a five-wicket haul against England, demonstrating his ability to adapt and thrive.

Kuldeep's ability to extract more turn and drift from flat pitches sets him apart from his peers, a skill he displayed spectacularly against Zak Crawley. His approach to bowling, focusing on length, speed variation, and utilizing drift, showcases his tactical acumen and physical preparedness.
