Pat Cummins, the Australia captain, remained unapologetic regarding the contentious dismissal of Jonny Bairstow, asserting that he would respond in the same manner if confronted with a similar situation.

Although Australia secured a 43-run victory at Lord's to take a 2-0 lead in the Ashes, the spotlight fell on the incident involving Alex Carey, who broke the stumps of Bairstow as the Englishman had stepped out of his crease, assuming the ball was dead.

The controversy surrounding the dismissal has escalated to the point where the Prime Ministers of England and Australia got involved. There have been discussions about Cummins and whether he could have retracted the appeal.

When asked if he would act in the same way again, Cummins simply replied, "Yup." This response came after England head coach Brendon McCullum suggested that Australia might come to regret their actions.

When confronted with McCullum's remarks, Cummins replied curtly, "You'll have to ask me in the future. At the moment I'm really comfortable with it...so yeah maybe down the track."
