World T20: UAE stadiums to hold 70% spectators while Oman recovers from cyclone

In a delighting news for cricket fans, UAE stadiums will operate with 70% capacity during the World T20. However, circumstances in Oman, where the preliminary stages will be held, have yet to be thoroughly assessed following a cyclone.

Preliminary round matches begin on October 10 and despite cyclone Shaheen hitting coasts of Oman on Sunday, ICC said that approximately 3,000 supporters would be accommodated at the stadium in Muscat.

Originally the tournament was meant to be held in India, but had to be shifted to the UAE due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. BCCI though still had the hosting rights and worked closely with the ICC to ensure that fans are welcomed in a safe environment and that all Covid-19 protocols were followed.
