Auction for the second season of Women's Premier League will take place in Mumbai on 9th December and 165 players will go under the hammer for 30 vacant slots.

The highly anticipated Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction is all set to take place on 9th December 2023 in Mumbai. A total of 30 player slots are up for grabs in the upcoming auction, with nine of these slots reserved for overseas players.

165 players to go under the hammer

A total of 165 players will go under the hammer during the auction. Five franchises including Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz, Gujarat Giants, and Royal Challengers Bangalore will be bidding in this auction to fill the vacant spots of their teams. 104 Indian players and 61 overseas players will take part in the Women's Premier League 2024 auction on Saturday.

Purse available with every team

For the inaugural season, teams were allocated a purse of INR 12 crore. With the addition of the extra INR 1.5 crore, the total purse available for the auction will increase to 13.5 crore.

Gujarat Giants now have the largest purse after releasing 11 players, with INR 5.95 crore available to them. The remaining sums for other teams are as follows:

UP Warriorz: 4 crore
Royal Challengers Bangalore: 3.35 crore
Delhi Capitals: 2.5 crore
Mumbai Indians: INR 2.1 crore
