WTC Final 2023: Kohli-Rahane partnership raises India's hopes but Australia still on top | IND vs AUS

It all comes down to the final day as India and Australia look to claim their maiden World Test Championship title at the Oval.

With India needing 280 runs to win on the final day of the one-off test with 7 wickets in hand, it will surely be a testing battle between the two cricketing giants.

Having got themselves a comfortable 443-run lead, Australia declared their second innings at 270 for 8, giving Team India a challenging target of 444 to chase.

After a good start to the chase by Indian openers Rohit Sharma (43) and Shubman Gill, the latter got dismissed courtesy of a controversial 3rd umpire decision after which skipper Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara (27) lost their wickets.

However, it was Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane's sturdy 71-run unbeaten stand which took India to 164/3 at the end of Day 4.

With Team India needing to chase a record-breaking total of 444 runs at the Oval, it would take them nothing short of a miracle to get the victory.
