On Monday, February 26 at the JSCA Cricket Stadium Complex in Ranchi, during Day 4 of the ongoing fourth Test, Team India batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal added another feather to his nascent international career. The southpaw has massed 655 runs, the same number Virat achieved in 2016-17.

However, Yashasvi has another game left to go past the legendary cricketer. With his 73-run innings in the first innings of the Ranchi Test, Yashasvi Jaiswal became the second-highest run scorer for India in a Test series against England, surpassing the record of 602 runs held by former captain and head coach Rahul Dravid.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was on the verge of breaking former skipper Virat Kohli's record for the most runs scored in a Test series against England by only one run. When he tried a big shot off Joe Root's ball, the 22-year-old was batting on 37. However, he sliced towards the backwards point, and James Anderson dove to collect the catch.

His attacking style of cricket has placed the visitors on the back foot and he has played strongly against England.

In the current five-match Test series against the Ben Stokes-led team, he already has two double-hundreds and a number of fifties. His two double tonnes came from India's victories in Rajkot and Vizag. Jaiswal's double hundred in the second game earned him the title of Player of the Match.
