2 Premier League Boxing Day games postponed as UK sees 1 lakh new Covid-19 cases

2 Premier League games involving Liverpool and Leads and Watford vs Wolverhampton scheduled for Boxing Day have now been postponed due to rising Covid-19 infections in the team. According to a release by Premier League, Watford and Leeds had requested the League to call off the games as they have multiple cases in the squad.

The number of games that were postponed or called off due to Covid-19 has now jumped to 12 this season.

The move came to rescue teams like Watford which doesn't have enough players to play a game due to Covid-19 cases as well as injuries in the squad. This is the 2nd game in December involving Watford which has been called off.

The Covid-19 wave in the United Kingdom is smashing all records and the nation saw over 1 lakh new cases for the first time since the start of the pandemic.
