Benjamin Mendy takes legal action against Manchester City over unpaid wages

Former Manchester City defender, Benjamin Mendy, has initiated legal proceedings against the club, claiming unpaid wages. The 29-year-old footballer alleges "unauthorised deductions from wages," a move stemming from his tumultuous legal battle in 2021, where he faced charges of rape and sexual assault.

Mendy, a France international, was cleared of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by a jury in January, concluding a six-month trial. However, the jury was unable to reach verdicts on two counts of rape and attempted rape, prompting a retrial. Mendy was ultimately found not guilty of these two charges in July.

The defender, who last played for Manchester City in August 2021, has since moved on to play for the French club Lorient.

The legal claim against Manchester City marks a new chapter for Mendy, who faced severe legal challenges during the aforementioned trial. The unpaid wages issue adds another layer of complexity to Mendy's relationship with his former club.

While the details of the wage dispute remain undisclosed, Mendy's legal action suggests ongoing tensions between the player and Manchester City. The outcome of this legal process could have implications for both parties, shedding light on the financial aspects of Mendy's tenure at the club and any potential resolutions that may arise from the legal proceedings.

As the legal battle unfolds, Mendy's claim underscores the intricate intersection of legal and financial matters within the realm of professional football.
