With a 2-0 lead over Ghana, Uruguay had their eye on the last 16-spot before substitute Hwang Hee-Chan's last-gasp goal powered South Korea to a 2-1 victory over Portugal and thus a place in the pre-quarterfinals

In yet another dramatic night of FIFA World Cup 2022, the second team for the pre-quarterfinals from Group H was decided in the dying minutes.

With a 2-0 lead over Ghana, Uruguay had their eye on the last 16-spot before substitute Hwang Hee-Chan's last-gasp goal powered South Korea to a 2-1 victory over Portugal and thus a place in the pre-quarterfinals.

Till the 85th minute, Uruguay were dreaming of a last-16 spot but once South Korea took the lead in the other match of Group H it was too late for the South American side. South Korea with overall 4 goals knocked Luis Suarez's side out of World Cup on goals scored. In the group stage, Uruguay managed to score only two goals in three games against Korea's 4.

Meanwhile, Ghana who needed only a draw to enter the next round found themselves on the back foot after failing to take an early lead via the penalty spot.

Uruguay then scored twice in a span of 6 minutes and went to half-time with a 2-0 lead, They displayed brilliant defensive tactics till the inevitable happened to them in the final moments of the game.

With two wins in three games, Portugal qualified for the pre-quarterfinals as Group H toppers.
