Netherlands forward Quincy Promes has been found guilty of stabbing his cousin in the leg, resulting in an 18-month prison sentence. The verdict was delivered by the Amsterdam District Court, which cited Promes' status as a professional football player and Dutch celebrity as reasons for the extended sentence.

The incident occurred during a family gathering near Amsterdam in July 2020, where Promes stabbed his cousin in the knee. The police discovered the offence while monitoring Promes' phone as part of a broader investigation into drug smuggling.

At the time of the incident, Promes was playing for Ajax, but he currently represents Spartak Moscow in Russia. With 50 international appearances for the Netherlands, Promes has scored seven goals for the national team.
