Premier League: Ronaldo's record 800th goal helps Manchester United beat Arsenal 3-2

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace to give Manchester United a 3-2 win over Arsenal in the Premier League on Thursday. The drama started right from the opening half after Arsenal took an early lead in the 17th minute when the United keeper David de Gea was down after being hit on the foot by his own teammate.

The Red Devils buoyed by the opening goal fought hard and found the equaliser from Bruno Fernandes just a minute before the half-time break. The Portuguese scored in his 100th game for United as the home fans pushed the team harder.

The pressure from the home side paid off early in the 2nd half as Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up to find a ball from Marcus Rashford and guided it in the net. The goal also marked the 800th strike from the Portuguese for the club as well as for the country.

The Gunners of course weren't ready to concede defeat Martin Odegaard equalised for the visiting side.

But there was more drama at Old Trafford as Cristiano Ronaldo scored once again and this time his goal proved to be the difference. The 801st goal from the Portuguese came from the penalty spot which was good enough to earn his team all 3 points with a 3-2 win.

The win also marks the end of interim manager Michael Carricks and his 15-year stint with Manchester United both as a player and coach. Ralf Rangnick will now take charge from the next game against Crystal Palace on December 5.
