Riyad Mahrez completes move from Man City to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli in £30 million deal

Riyad Mahrez's transfer from Manchester City to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli has been finalized, as announced by the Premier League club.

Last week, City agreed to a fee, reportedly worth up to £30 million, with Al-Ahli for the services of the Algerian international.

Over the course of five years at the Etihad Stadium, the 32-year-old Mahrez played a crucial role in City's success, contributing to the club's triumph in 11 trophies, including four Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Expressing his sentiments about leaving Manchester City, Mahrez said to the club's website, mancity.com: "To play for Manchester City has been an honor and privilege. I came to City to win trophies and enjoy my football, and I achieved all that and so much more."

Mahrez becomes the latest addition to the growing list of high-profile players making a move to the Saudi Pro League this summer, alongside other notable names like Karim Benzema, Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino, and N'Golo Kante.

In 2018, Mahrez joined City in a £60 million deal from Leicester City, where he had previously won the Premier League in 2016. His departure marks the second major exit from City since they clinched the treble last season, following Ilkay Gundogan's move to Barcelona.

City's director of football, Txiki Begiristain, praised Mahrez's significant contributions to the club's success, stating, "Riyad has been a major factor in our amazing successes over the past five years and his contribution will not be forgotten. There are few wingers that possess his levels of skill and technique in world football, and he will be missed, but everyone will wish him all the best as he begins a new chapter in his career."
