William Saliba: Arsenal star commits future to club with new 4-year deal

Arsenal centre-back William Saliba has committed his future to the club by signing a new four-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2027.

The 22-year-old Frenchman made a significant impact for the Gunners last season. Saliba showcased his skills in 33 games, with 27 appearances in the Premier League, and contributed three goals across all competitions.

Arsenal enjoyed a strong season, spending much of their time at the top of the table before ultimately finishing behind eventual champions Manchester City.

Manager Mikel Arteta expressed his delight with the contract extension, stating, "To have William extend his contract with us was something we have wanted to do for a long time. William proved last season just how good and how important he is to our squad."

Arteta also highlighted Saliba's potential for further growth at the young age of 22, emphasizing that there is plenty of room for development in his career. The club is excited to continue working with him in the coming years.

Saliba's impressive performances caught the attention of top clubs, including Real Madrid and Paris St-Germain, but Arsenal successfully fended off any potential suitors.

After joining Arsenal from St Etienne in 2019 for a fee of £27 million during Unai Emery's tenure as manager, Saliba had three loan spells in French football before making his breakthrough season with the Gunners.
