ODI World Cup 2023: Kane Williamson suffers another injury on return to international cricket

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson's successful return to the field was marred by another injury episode. Williamson who scored a 78* in his comeback game after the long-knee injury layoff has apparently gotten hurt again.

During the 38th over of New Zealand's innings vs Bangladesh, Williamson suffered a blow to his left thumb after the fielder's throw missed the stump and hit the skipper's glove.

After treatment, Williamson continued batting with bandages wrapped around his thumb. But after a few balls, Williamson who felt uncomfortable, decided to retire hurt.

In the post-match presentation, Williamson said that he was struggling to hold the bat due to the injury. He will now undergo scans on October 14.
