IND vs AUS: R Ashwin takes five as India win by innings and 132 runs

A thumping victory!

India needed only 195 balls to bowl Australia out in the second innings and go 1-0 up in the 4-match series.

Having taken a massive 223-run lead, the Indian spinners bamboozled the Aussies right from the word go. No other batter apart from Steve Smith could put any sort of resistance.

Ravichandran Ashwin was outstanding, picking up his 31st 5-wicket haul in Tests as the visitors were bowled out for a paltry 91.

Earlier in the Test, after the visitors opted to bat first, Ravindra Jadeja took a fifer to bowl the Aussies out for just 177 in the first innings.

In reply, captain Rohit Sharma scored a hundred. Combined with an incredible rearguard that saw the last 3 wickets add 160 runs, India took a mammoth 223-run lead.

And while Australia needed a strong showing in the second essay, they were bowled out inside a session to lose by an innings and 132 runs.
