India announce squads for NZ series, first 2 Tests against Australia

BCCI announced Team India squads for the limited-overs series against New Zealand and the first two Tests versus Australia.

While Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli are part of the ODI squad against NZ, the duo won't feature in the T20Is, with Hardik Pandya named captain once again in the shortest format. Prithvi Shaw, who recently scored 379 against Assam in the Ranji Trophy, earned a recall to the T20I squad.

KL Rahul & Axar Patel, meanwhile, will miss the full NZ series due to family commitments. In Rahul's absence, KS Bharat has been named as the secondary wicketkeeper.

Jasprit Bumrah's fitness remains a concern with the premier fast pacer missing from the squad for the first two Tests against Australia. While Ravindra Jadeja has been named, his inclusion is subject to fitness. In Rishabh Pant's absence, India have included Ishan Kishan.

Suryakumar Yadav though was a surprise selection in the Test squad, with still no place for the in-form Sarfaraz Khan despite his unbelievable form in domestic cricket for Mumbai.
