IPL 2023, MI vs PBKS: Punjab prevail in high-scoring humdinger, snap Mumbai's 3-match winning streak

What a game! It was raining sixes all round the ground before Arshdeep Singh produced a brilliant spell as Punjab Kings beat Mumbai Indians by 13 runs in a high-scoring humdinger at Wankhede Stadium.

Chasing a mammoth 215-run target, Mumbai lost Ishan Kishan in the second over. Then captain Rohit Sharma and Cameron Green stitched a 76-run stand to bring MI's innings back on track.

With the asking rate climbing and Rohit back in the hut, Green and Suryakumar Yadav unleashed themselves on Punjab bowlers. Such was the impact of both batters' power-packed striking that it seemed Mumbai would overhaul the target before 20 overs.

Though Green returned to the pavilion for 67 runs, Surya went berserk and slammed his fastest IPL fifty. But Arshdeep Singh got rid of Surya for 57 runs and raised Punjab's hopes.

Tim David tried to take Mumbai over the line with his 13-ball 25. However, death-overs specialist Arshdeep bowled superbly in the final over and defended 16 runs while taking 2 wickets, thus ending MI's 3-match winnings streak. In a match with over 400 runs scored, Arshdeep conceded only 29 runs and took 4 wickets.

Earlier, put into bat, Sam Curran's splendid 29-ball-55 and Jitesh Sharma's 25 runs off 7 deliveries lifted Punjab from a precarious position to post a commendable 214 for 8.

A 92-run stand for the eighth wicket with Harpreet Bhatia's 41 changed the course of the game, with 131 runs coming in the last 10 overs of Punjab's innings.
