After a three-day bidding war over the IPL media rights for the 2023-27 cycle, Star Sports India was confirmed to be the official TV broadcaster for the league in the country. Meanwhile, Mukesh Ambani-led Viacom18 bagged the digital rights for the next 5-year cycle.


BCCI honorary secretary Jay Shah confirmed the development in a series of tweets on Tuesday evening.

The IPL media rights have been sold for a whopping Rs 48,390 crores in total. The IPL is now the 2nd most valued sporting league in the world, only behind the NFL in terms of per match value.
Star Sports bagged the India TV rights for Rs 23,575 crores.

Meanwhile, the digital rights of the marquee league surpassed the value of TV rights for the time. Viacom18 won the digital and non-exclusive rights for Rs 23,758 crores. Times Internet and Viacom won the overseas rights for Rs. 1,057 crores.


While congratulating all the stakeholders, Jay Shah wrote that BCCI will utilize the revenue generated from the IPL to strengthen the domestic cricket structure and spruce up facilities across India.
