Brij Bhushan Singh declares 'I have proof of innocence' as court frames charges in sexual harassment case

Delhi's Rouse Avenue court has officially framed charges against BJP MP and former wrestling federation president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in the sexual harassment case. The charges include violations under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to sexual harassment, the use of force against a woman, and criminal intimidation.

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, a prominent politician, appeared before Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday afternoon. During the proceedings, he pleaded not guilty to the sexual harassment charges and expressed his readiness to face trial. "When I have not committed any mistake, why will I admit it?" Singh asserted in court.

Following this, the court proceeded to frame the charges and instructed Singh to sign the necessary documents. A seasoned politician, Singh has served as a Member of Parliament (MP) six times from Uttar Pradesh. However, amid the ongoing controversy, the BJP chose not to give him a ticket for the upcoming elections, instead nominating his son, Karan Bhushan Singh, for the Kaiserganj seat.

Speaking to the media after the court session, Singh maintained his innocence, stating, "The court has framed the charges but now Delhi Police has to prove them. I have proof of my innocence. These are false cases. There is a legal process, and we must follow it."

When questioned about whether the allegations affected his political prospects, particularly his exclusion from the upcoming election, Singh responded confidently, "My son has got a ticket."

The framing of charges is a significant development in the case that has attracted substantial public and media attention. Singh's position as a powerful figure in Indian wrestling and his long-standing political career have made the allegations and subsequent legal proceedings a focal point of discussion.
