Cincinnati Open: Coco Gauff clinches biggest career win; Novak Djokovic wins record 39th Masters title

Just a week before the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the year, gets underway, American teenage sensation Coco Gauff downed Czech Karolina Muchova to win her 1st Masters 1000 title at the Cincinnati Open.

Gauff took less than two hours to decimate the French Open runner-up in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to grab the biggest win of her career while also becoming the youngest winner of the Cincinnati WTA title.

The 19-year-old is also the first teenager to win five career titles since Caroline Wozniacki in 2008-09.

She is only the 4th American after Lindsay Davenport, Serena Williams and Madison Keys to win the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati.

Meanwhile, in a marathon men's final that lasted for nearly 4 hours, Novak Djokovic emerged victorious, defeating Carlos Alcaraz in three sets 5-7, 7-6(7), 7-6(4) to clinch his 39th Masters title.

Djokovic rallied from a set down, saving a championship point in the second-set tiebreak to win the Cincinnati Open, his first title in the US since 2020.

Just 20 points separate the 36-year-old World No. 2 from Carlos Alcaraz, who currently sits at the top of the ATP rankings.

Alcaraz will be defending his title at the US Open, which commences August 28.
