Daniil Medvedev dethrones Novak Djokovic at top of ATP World Rankings

Russia's Daniil Medvedev is now the No. 1 ranked men's tennis player in the world. He dethroned Novak Djokovic to take the top spot in men's rankings.

Meanwhile, Djokovic slipped to the third spot with Alexander Zverev, who injured himself in the semis of the French Open, taking the second position.

Medvedev is likely to retain the top spot in men's tennis for a longer period, given players participating in Wimbledon will not get any ranking points during the oldest Grand Slam tournament, starting June 27.

Interestingly, this is the first time since November 2003 that none of Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, or Andy Murray appear in the top two rankings spots.

In the latest ATP World Rankings, Rafael Nadal, who won the Australian and French Open this year, is ranked fourth. Roger Federer, on the other hand, is now 68th on the list after a prolonged absence due to injury.

Notably, Medvedev is not allowed to participate in the third Grand Slam tournament of the year after the All England Lawn Tennis Club banned Russian players from participating in Wimbledon over the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
