Delhi High Court reserves judgement in wrestlers' plea against Asian Games trials exemption

The Delhi High Court has reserved its judgement on a plea against the exemption granted to Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia for Asian Games trials and informed that the pronouncement will take place on 22nd July.

Vinesh & Bajrang were among the 6 grapplers who were protesting against the former Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and had earlier requested the Indian Olympic Association for more time to prepare for the upcoming Asian Games. However, the ad-hoc panel instead gave them exemptions, a move that hasn't gone down well with the wrestling community.

Wrestlers Antim Panghal and Sujeet Kalkal have challenged the decision of the ad-hoc committee of the Indian Olympic Association in the Delhi High Court, asking for withdrawal of exemptions granted to Phogat and Punia in the trials for women's 53 kg and men's freestyle 65 kg categories earlier this month.
