After former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly's comments surfaced about wrestlers' protest, Vinesh Phogat, the World Championship and Commonwealth Games medallist came up with a suggestion.

When asked about the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar Ganguly said that while he hopes that the matter gets resolved soon, he has no knowledge of 'what's happening there'

In her response, Phogat, who is one of the leading faces of the agitation against Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, said, 'If he wants to support us in our pursuit of justice he can come to Jantar Mantar as an athlete and understand everything from us'

Top wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, have been protesting against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh at Jantar Mantar since April 23. They have been demanding his arrest for the alleged sexual harassment of seven grapplers, including a minor. They have also accused the BJP strongman and 6-time Lok Sabha MP of criminal intimidation.

Their petition in Supreme Court has also been closed, after which the protesting wrestlers asserted that it was not a setback for them and they will continue their agitation. The wrestlers said they have all the options open before them and, after consulting their elders, they will decide whether they will move to a lower court or the High Court.

The Apex Court closed the proceedings on a petition by women wrestlers, who have accused Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation, noting that FIRs have been filed against him as per the petition prayer and seven complainants have also been provided adequate security.

Meanwhile, an ad-hoc committee formed by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), has taken charge of the crisis-ridden Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).

The Sports Ministry had instructed the IOA to form the ad-hoc committee to oversee the affairs of WFI and conduct elections within 45 days of the panel's formation. The committee was formed last month.
