World No. 1 Carlsen still managed to win the top prize on the basis of a higher score. While Praggnanandhaa finished the tournament with 15 points, Carlsen took top honours with a score of 16.

17-year-old Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa produced yet another superb show at the FTX Crypto Cup to defeat World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen 4-2 in the final round.

The first couple of games between the two ended in a draw before Carlsen took the lead by clinching the third. But Praggnanandhaa shocked the World No. 1 by first winning the fourth game to push the match into a tie-break, before winning both the games in the tie-break as well.

However, despite the victory over Carlsen, the Indian prodigy finished second behind the Norwegian in the standings.

World No. 1 Carlsen won the top prize on the basis of a higher score. While Praggnanandhaa finished the tournament with 15 points, Carlsen took the top honours with a score of 16.

Praggnanandhaa has been in sensational form over the past few months, highlighted by the fact that his victory in Miami was his third win this year against the World Champion.
