Rohit Sharma disappoints against Pakistan; Hitman's poor record in T20 World Cup costing Team India?

Rohit has overall scored just 127 runs against the Men in Green in 11 T20I innings at an average of just over 14 and a below-par strike rate of 117.5

Rohit Sharma disappoints against Pakistan; Hitman's poor record in T20 World Cup costing Team India?

Rohit Sharma might have scored a half-century in India's T20 World Cup 2024 opening game against Ireland but there's no shying away from the fact that the Indian skipper did come into the tournament with the baggage of not scoring many runs in the shortest format.

The Hitman was given a lifeline in that match against Ireland when he was let off in the slips in the very first over. However, Rohit was not that lucky in the game against Pakistan. Despite getting off to a fine start, he was once again out on an in-swinging delivery by Shaheen Shah Afridi for 13.

Sadly, except for an unbeaten 30 against the Arch-Rivals in that game in the 2007 World T20, Rohit has managed to score just 51 runs in the next 5 innings against Pakistan in T20 World Cups. He averages a mere 10.2 in those games.

Not just that, but the Indian skipper has overall scored just 127 runs against the Men in Green in 11 T20I innings at an average of just over 14 and a below-par strike rate of 117.5.

There is no question about Rohit Sharma's ability, as the batter has smashed 5 centuries in T20 Internationals. Still, his recent form in IPL and Rohit Sharma's numbers in T20 World Cup games are causing a major worry to the fans.

Apart from scoring a ton and a fifty both in losing causes, The Mumbai Indians batsman didn't even score a half-century in the rest of IPL 2024. He has scored 240 runs in 12 innings at an average of just 20.

Rohit hasn't performed to the top of his ability at the T20 World Cups despite currently playing his 9th edition. In the previous World T20, the Indian captain scored 116 runs from 6 games at a poor average of 19.33 at a concerning strike rate of 106.42.

Team India hasn't won any T20 World Cup ever since 2007 and India would want to break that jinx. But for that to happen, Rohit Sharma, the batter will have to lead by example to turn that dream into reality.
