T20 World Cup 2022: Team India unhappy! Have ICC hired the best services in Australia?

From complaints about food to no swimming pools for relaxation, Team India has had to face a lot of issues with the facilities that have been provided to them during the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022.

So far, the Rohit Sharma-led squad only had a pleasant experience in Perth where they stayed at the Crown Group Hotels during their initial days in Australia. The team has again travelled to Perth for their 3rd match against South Africa which is to be played on October 30th.

Apart from this, the Men in Blue have stayed at Rydges Hotel in Brisbane and Hyatt Regency in Sydney. Both the properties are four-star stays, which the Indian management was not very happy about. In contrast to this, the Australian team was made to stay in 5-star hotels. The Indian fans also harshly called out Cricket Australia for not having proper arrangements for the Team.

The team has constantly complained of inadequate amenities. They were served cold food, were provided a ground for a net session that was 40 km away and the 2 hotels where the team stayed did not have swimming pools.

'Swimming pools are where players shed their fatigue. A swimming session is kind of water therapy and you need that to relax after a high-intensity net session or a game. The Indian players never miss an opportunity like that, so much needed during an event like this', said Bharat Arun, India's former bowling coach

As per officials, however, only the best facilities across the cities that would host matches were selected and all teams are designated to stay in them. Further, the organisers have resolved the concerns over food after the Indian Team management raised the issue.

The question remains though why Team India weren't provided the best facilities earlier? But one thing is for sure, the outcry on social media definitely made the ICC & Cricket Australia take notice.
