Invited to bat, Virat Kohli and K L Rahul scored sparkling fifties to power India to 184 for six.
The under-fire Rahul returned to form with a 32-ball 50 before Kohli took charge of the innings with an unbeaten 64 off 44 deliveries.
Hasan Mahmud (3/47) was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh.
Defending a revised target of 151 in 16 overs following a brief rain interruption, India restricted Bangladesh to 145 for six.
Liton Das top-scored for Bangladesh with a 27-ball 60.
Arshdeep Singh (2/38) picked up two wickets for India.

Virat Kohli’s eternal love affair with the Adelaide Oval continued as he powered India to an imposing 184 for 6 against Bangladesh with a beautifully crafted 64 not out in the T20 World Cup here on Wednesday.
There were eight fours and a six in his 44-ball innings as none of the Bangladesh bowlers had any answer for his exquisite stroke-play.
The pitch was way slower compared to Perth and the Bangladesh bowling attack fizzled out under extreme pressure in the post-Powerplay overs as KL Rahul (50 off 31 ball) also returned to form with his first fifty of the tournament.
Kohli, en route to his third half-century of the competition, had couple of useful stands – 67 for second wicket with Rahul and 38 for the third wicket with Suryakumar Yadav (30 off 15 balls).
India skipper Rohit Sharma (2 off 7 balls) couldn’t capitalize on the dropped chance in the first over off Taskin Ahmed’s (0/15 in 4 overs).

Netherlands beat Zimbabwe by five wickets in their T20 World Cup match.
The Netherlands put up a disciplined bowling show as Zimbabwe folded for 117 in 19.2 overs after opting to bat.
They then overhauled the small target in 18 overs, reaching to in 120 for 5.
Max O'Dowd was the top-scorer for the Netherlands with 52 while Tom Cooper was the next best with 32.
Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava took two wickets apiece for Zimbabwe.
Earlier, Sikandar Raza top-scored for Zimbabwe with a 24-ball 40 while Sean Williams contributed 28 (23b) as they were shot out in 19.2 overs after opting to bat.
Paul van Meekeren was the pick of the Dutch bowlers with figures of 3/29. Brandon Glover, Logan van Beek and Bas de Leede chipped in with two wickets apiece.
