During a session on Cricbuzz, Doull opined that if the curator at Eden Gardens continues to disregard the home team's wishes, KKR should consider changing their home ground. Doull expressed that the curator's role is to accommodate the home team's preferences, as they finance the use of the stadium during the IPL. "If he's still not paying heed to what the home team wants, then just move the franchise away to somewhere else," Doull commented, emphasizing that the curator should not impose his opinions on the game.
Harsha Bhogle also shared a similar viewpoint, stating that a home team should have a pitch tailored to benefit their bowlers. "I saw something about what the KKR curator has said," Bhogle noted.
However, the CAB is backing curator Mukherjee, asserting that he is adhering to official BCCI guidelines, which prohibit franchises from dictating the specific nature of pitch preparation. KKR&rsquo;s captain, Ajinkya Rahane, reportedly requested a spin-friendly wicket to support their key bowlers such as Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine, but the pitch often ended up being more conducive to pace, resulting in high-scoring matches.
The CAB insists that the curator has followed the rules regarding pitch preparation. As of now, no official statement has been issued by the BCCI. Peters, who hails from Grenada, is a two-time world champion and Rohler is the gold-medallist from the 2016 Olympics. Chopra said he has also invited Pakistani Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem who is, however, yet to confirm participation.
"I have sent invitation to Arshad and he said he will get back to me after discussing with his coach. As of now he is yet to confirm participation," Chopra told reporters in a virtual media interaction.
The competition has been granted category A status by World Athletics.
"I wanted the event in Panchkula but there are certain issues related to lighting at the stadium there. World Athletics requirement is 600 lux (a measure of the intensity of light), which is not there (in Panchkula) and it will take time (to install it)," he said.
"So, we have decided to shift the event to Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. We have a team there and it will be lot easier for the event to be staged there," said the 27-year-old who is also supported by Bengaluru-based JSW Sports.
The event will be jointly organised by Chopra and JSW Sports in collaboration with the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) and World Athletics, featuring top global as well as Indian javelin throwers.
Besides Peters, who also won a bronze medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics, and Rohler, the participation of Kenyan Julius Yego, a silver-medallist in the 2016 Rio Olympics besides being a 2015 World Championships gold winner, and American Curtis Thompson, who is the current season leader with 87.76m, has also been confirmed.
"A Brazilian, who qualified for the final in (Paris Olympics) has also confirmed participation," Chopra said without giving name, though it could be Luiz da Silva, who finished 11th in Paris with a best throw of 80.67m.
"I'm very much involved in the organisation of the event, which is a dream come true for me. I am also competing. Yesterday, I spoke to Rohit (Yadav) and three to four Indians will be competing. It will be a very good opportunity to get ranking points for World Championships in Tokyo (in September)." He said his current coach Jan Zelezny, the legendary world record holder, suggested that the event should be named after the Indian superstar.
"I was talking to Zelezny about this event and he said that it would be good if it is named after me.
"I am very excited. I have won Olympic and other medals for the country. Now with this event, I am giving back something to Indian athletics, to Indian athletes and the fans." He said the NC Classic will be an annual competition and he is hoping that events other than javelin will be added in the future.
"I wanted to state that this event will be an annual affair. As of now, it will be just a men's javelin event. But in future, I am hoping that women's event and other events will also be added.
"If you ask me, I want a Diamond League Meeting to be held in India. We have the stadium to host DL Meetings, and it will be good for World Athletics also to spread athletics. World Athletics knows that athletics is growing in India." The fans will need to buy tickets to watch the NC Classic javelin event.
"There will be tickets for the event, for different boxes. But we will try that the ticket price is not too much. The fans should feel the ticket price is worth the enjoyment of watching the event," said Chopra.

Former India skipper Mohammed Azharuddin is planning to approach the Telangana High Court, seeking a stay on Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) Ombudsman's order to remove his name from North Stand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Justice (Retd) V Eswaraiah, who is also HCA's ethics officer, made the decision on basis of a petition filed by Lords Cricket Club -- one of HCA's member units -- which alleged that Azharuddin misused his position as then HCA President by taking arbitrary decisions.
The petition alleged that the veteran of 99 Tests and 334 ODIs violated HCA rules by sitting in the Apex Council meeting as former HCA president to get the resolution passed on naming the North Stand after him in December 2019, barely a month after he became association chief.
According to HCA constitution, a resolution needs to be ratified by the General body.
"I will definitely take legal recourse and will be appealing to the High Court to stay this order. It is a shame that an India captain's name is being asked to be removed," Azharuddin told PTI.
The former India skipper also questioned the validity of Ombudsman's order, saying his tenure has already ended.
"As per by-laws of the association, the Ombudsman/Ethics Officer's tenure is for one year. In this case, the Ombudsman's tenure had ended on February 18, 2025 and any order passed after that period is null and void.
"He hasn't got extension, which can only be given during the AGM which hasn't happened. So how did he pass an order," the 62-year-old asked.
Azharuddin alleged that he is being targetted because a few HCA officials couldn't indulge in corrupt practices during his tenure as president.
He was elected HCA President in September 2019 and term ended in September 2023. During his controversial term Supreme Court appointed a one-man committee of Justice L Nageswara Rao to manage the affairs of the association in February 2023.
The opposition faction alleged that people related to Azharuddin were involved in selection scandals in age-group teams, a charge vehemently denied by the former cricketer, who scored more than 15,000 runs in international cricket.
"Crooks, who have never held a bat in their hands are pointing fingers at me. If they want to remove my name from the stand, the man who played 433 games for India, then you might as well take down Shivlal Yadav's (former India off-spinner) name as it was also done when he himself was the HCA president.
"You take down names of Abid Ali, Tiger Pataudi and ML Jaisimha. This is one association that doesn't respect players. And on whose petition, the Ombudsman is acting? The club (Lords Cricket Club) where there is no transparency as to who is the actual owner and who runs it," he said.
Another allegation was removal of VVS Laxman's name from the North Stand and putting his name on it.
"Am I fool to remove a legend like Laxman's name from the stand, the only man who has played 100 plus Tests from our region? In the North Stand, the pavilion is named after Laxman and it is still there, you can check," he clarified.
When an HCA official was approached as to why there are separate rules for Azharuddin and Shivlal, he replied: "In case of Shiv, he was instrumental in building this stadium and he got his name on the stands after due approval from HCA general body." "In case of Azhar, he never approached the General Body as he knew he didn't have the numbers to get it ratified." Azharuddin also launched a tirade against HCA president Jagan Mohan Rao.
"This is one association, which doesn't know how to respect its stars. Look at how Sunrisers Hyderabad were harassed for extra free tickets and BCCI had to intervene. Since I have raised questions about their manner of functioning, this has happened but I will not take these insults lying down," he warned.&nbsp;

A sprightly Mumbai Indians continued their ascent in the Indian Premier League with a four-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in a one-sided contest on a tricky wicket in Mumbai on Thursday.
Led by Will Jacks who played a decisive role with a fine 36 (26 balls, 3x4s, 3x6s) after a crucial spell of 3-0-14-2, Mumbai Indians executed an all-round show to record their second consecutive win.
The home side came on top for having assessed the Wankhede Stadium pitch accurately and adapting quickly to the conditions it presented, with each of the pieces falling in place for the five-time winners.
MI&rsquo;s fast bowlers used the short and slower balls well throughout the first innings and nailed their yorkers perfectly. In the run chase, the MI batters showed a clear plan to keep finding the boundaries which kept them on top.
Chasing 163 on a pitch which had grip and turn, MI were also benefited by SRH&rsquo;s reluctance to bring on spin in the powerplay, as the home side made 166/6 in 18.1 overs to record their third win of the season.
Even though Rohit Sharma endured another failure after a promising start in which he made 26 off 16 balls with three sixes, he gave MI the momentum with the bat and the others capitalised on it.
Opener Ryan Rickelton made a fluent 31 while Suryakumar Yadav hammered two sixes and as many fours to make 26 (off 15 balls) to provide a strong support to Jacks.
Captain Hardik Pandya played a crucial cameo of 21 off just nine balls to take MI to the threshold of victory. Tilak Varma (21 not out) then took MI over the line after a late minor hiccup as the home side reached 166 for 6 in 18.1 overs.
In the first half, Sunrisers Hyderabad found late momentum with the bat to fight their way through and post 162 for 5.
With the surface at the Wankhede Stadium providing grip and turn for the spinners and slower deliveries giving dividends to the pace bowlers, Sunrisers Hyderabad batters struggled to adapt to the wicket for most part of the innings.
But a big finish -- 57 runs coming off the last five overs -- gave SRH some much-needed impetus towards the end.

Head was unable to open up even as he tried his best to cut loose. Despite having caught off a no-ball with Pandya overstepping, Head failed to capitalise as he fell for an ordinary 29-ball 28.
Such was the impact of MI&rsquo;s control that the first six of the game came as late as in the 18th over -- the best one of SRH&rsquo;s innings &mdash; when Heinrich Klaasen (37 off 28 balls, 3x4s, 2x6s) took 21 runs to spoil Chahar&rsquo;s figures (4-0-47-0).

Indian Premier League cricket team Royal Challengers Bengaluru moved the Delhi High Court on Thursday and accused an YouTube advertisement of disparaging its trademark.
Justice Saurabh Banerjee, after hearing submissions of parties on Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) interim plea for injunction, reserved its order.
Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited filed a suit against Uber India Systems Pvt Ltd claiming that Uber Moto's YouTube advertisement titled "Baddies in Bengaluru ft. Travis Head" disparages its trademark.
RCB said Sunrisers Hyderabad's cricketer Head, the main character in the video, disparages its trademark.
Describing the video advertisement, RCB counsel said the cricketer could be seen running towards Bengaluru cricket stadium with an aim to vandalise the signage of "Bengaluru Vs Hyderabad", takes a spray paint and writes "Royally Challenged" before Bengaluru making it "Royally Challenged Bengaluru" which disparages RCB's mark.
The lawyer contended that when a negative comment is made, there is disparagement and added that Uber Moto, being the commercial sponsor of Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL team, while promoting its product which is booking a ride, used RCB's trademark in the course of its trade, that too its "deceptive variant", which was impermissible under law.
The counsel representing Uber said RCB had "severely discounted" the sense of humour of the public at large. The general messaging of the advertisement, the counsel said, was that there was a match between RCB and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Bengaluru cricket stadium on May 13 and since it was a city with traffic jam, "public must use uber moto".
Uber's counsel said good humour, sense of fun and banter are intrinsic to advertising messaging and these factors "will be killed" if such a standard, as mooted by RCB, is applied.
The advertisement garnered 1.3 million views and a number of comments from users on the social media platform.

In the wake of India&rsquo;s crushing defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has undertaken a significant shake-up in the national team&rsquo;s support staff.
Assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, appointed only eight months ago, has been relieved of his duties. Alongside him, fielding coach T. Dilip and strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai have also been sacked. A team masseur has reportedly been let go as well.
The move comes as part of a broader overhaul led by newly-appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir, who succeeded Rahul Dravid. Gambhir brought in several members of his Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) support team, including Nayar, Ryan ten Doeschate, and Morne Morkel.
Earlier this year, in response to India&rsquo;s inconsistent batting performances&mdash;both at home against New Zealand and away in Australia&mdash;the BCCI appointed India A and NCA coach Sitanshu Kotak as the batting coach for white-ball formats. Despite a rocky start, the restructured coaching unit rebounded to guide India to a Champions Trophy title, with Nayar, ten Doeschate, Morkel, Dilip, and Kotak all playing pivotal roles.
While Nayar&rsquo;s stint with the national team has come to an end, other members of the support staff are expected to continue, with some stepping into interim roles. Ryan ten Doeschate will now handle fielding responsibilities in place of T. Dilip. South African trainer Adrian Le Roux, currently associated with Punjab Kings in the IPL, has been brought in to oversee strength and conditioning, replacing Desai.
No official replacements have yet been named for either Nayar or Dilip. The restructured support staff is set to join the Indian squad ahead of the high-stakes five-match Test series against England, beginning June 20.

The ice-cold Starc (1/36 in 4 overs) held his nerve during a tense final over to defend nine runs as DC forced the game into a Super Over when it seemed Royals have all but won it.
The Australian left-arm pacer then bowled a tremendous Super Over, conceding just two boundaries. He was backed by two razor-sharp run-outs as RR managed only 11 runs.
KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs then kept their nerves in check slamming a four and a six respectively to take the hosts to their first win at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Chasing 189, Yashasvi Jaiswal (51 off 37) and 'local lad' Nitish Rana (51 off 28) had the Royals cruising, but DC's bowlers turned the tide with a roaring late surge, eventually tying the game at 188/4.
The late drama followed a solid batting effort by DC, built on Abishek Porel&rsquo;s composed 49 and explosive cameos from skipper Axar Patel (34 off 14) and Tristan Stubbs (34 not out off 18), lifting them to a competitive 188/5 after being asked to bat.
Desperate for a win to reignite their campaign, Jaiswal came out all guns blazing as he clobbered two sixes off Mukesh Kumar before dismantling Mitchell Starc with two boundaries and a towering maximum, making his intent clear.
Sanju Samson joined the party even as Ashutosh Sharma spilled a regulation catch. The Royals' captain eventually retired hurt, after pulling his side.
With the chase humming along, Axar wicketless all season, broke the drought with a ripper that outfoxed Riyan Parag.
Jaiswal, however, looked invincible until Axar turned once more to his trusted match-winner Kuldeep Yadav (1/33 in 4 overs). The move worked. Delhi&rsquo;s standout wrist-spinner struck gold, removing the set Jaiswal.

Run outs came back to haunt Delhi again as a mix-up between Porel and the in-form Karun Nair (0) resulted in the latter's dismissal, abruptly halting the Capitals' early charge.
The Royals' bowlers tightened the noose during the middle overs, drying up the boundaries and building persistent pressure.
Yet, Porel found a steady ally in seasoned Rahul. The veteran batter brought a sense of calm amid storm, easing the pressure with two towering sixes -- one launched down the ground off Deshpande in the 7th, and another elegantly lifted over long-off against Mahesh Theekshana in the 11th.
Just when the hosts looked like having rebuild their innings, Archer was brought back skipper Sanju Samson. And the English pacer struck gold, dismissing Rahul with back of length delivery that found Shimron Hetmyer at deep midwicket.
The West Indian held on to a low catch, inches above the ground, swinging the momentum back in Rajasthan&rsquo;s favour.
But DC skipper Axar, who hasn't had the best of tournaments exploded, smashing four boundaries and two maximums before Stubbs' clean strikes helped Delhi finish strong.

Noted commentator Harsha Bhogle has rejected speculation that he was kept away from the IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans on Monday due to a complaint by the Cricket Association of Bengal, insisting that he was only empanelled for two games in Kolkata, which are over.
His clarification came a day after the CAB's letter to the BCCI, sent about 10 days ago by its secretary Naresh Ojha, was revealed in media reports. In the letter, the body asked for the removal of Bhogle and New Zealand's Simon Doull from the commentary panel for matches in Kolkata after they stated that the Eden Gardens pitch was not helping the local franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.
"There are some inappropriate conclusions being drawn about why I wasn't at yesterday's game in Kolkata. Quite simply, it wasn't on the list of matches I was down to do!" Bhogle posted on 'X'.
"Asking me would have resolved the issue. Rosters are done before the tournament starts. I was rostered for two games in Kolkata. I was there for the first and an illness in the family prevented me from being at the 2nd," he added without specifying the games.
KKR played against Gujarat Titans at the Eden Gardens on Monday and lost by 39 runs.
Both KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane and head coach Chandrakant Pandit have demanded a more spin friendly track at the venue and expressed their frustration at not being given a track that suits their attack featuring Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine and Moeen Ali.
After the CAB threw its weight behind curator Sujan Mukherjee, Doull had suggested that KKR should look for a new base given that Mukherjee was not fulfilling the team's requirements.
Bhogle had also stated that KKR deserved to have the home advantage.

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have landed in fresh controversy after a shocking two-run defeat against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 36 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.&nbsp;
With nine runs required off the final over and six wickets in hand, the Sanju Samson-led side collapsed dramatically at their home ground in Jaipur, sparking allegations of foul play.
Jaideep Bihani, convenor of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad hoc committee, raised serious concerns over the nature of RR&rsquo;s defeat. In an interview with News18 Rajasthan, Bihani alleged that there may have been match-fixing involved.&nbsp;
He recalled the franchise&rsquo;s tainted history, referring to the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal that led to the arrest of players and a two-year suspension for the team due to betting charges involving co-owner Raj Kundra.
Bihani stated, &ldquo;On the home ground, how did they lose when requiring so few runs in the final over?&rdquo; He called on the BCCI and relevant investigative agencies to probe the match.
The controversy doesn't end there. Bihani also claimed that the Rajasthan Cricket Association was sidelined from IPL hosting duties under &ldquo;baseless excuses.&rdquo; According to him, although the BCCI initially sent the hosting correspondence to RCA, the Rajasthan Sports Council and Rajasthan Royals took over, citing a lack of a formal MoU with the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. He questioned the rationale: &ldquo;If MoU is not there, so what? Aren&rsquo;t you paying Sports Council for every match?&rdquo;
He added that the ad hoc committee, appointed by the state government, had received its fifth extension due to successful administration. &ldquo;During our tenure, we&rsquo;ve conducted all competitions successfully right from the district level to the national level. However, as soon as the time for hosting IPL came, the Sports Council took control of it,&rdquo; Bihani said.
This is not the first time RR has choked under pressure this season. In another earlier match against Delhi Capitals, the Royals failed to score nine runs in the last over despite having seven wickets in hand and eventually lost in a Super Over. Following four consecutive defeats, they now sit eighth in the points table, with just two wins from eight matches and four points overall.
Their most recent defeat on April 19 in Jaipur also witnessed a significant IPL moment&mdash;14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his debut, becoming the youngest player in the history of the league. Meanwhile, Sanju Samson was absent due to injury, and is expected to miss the next fixture as well.
Under the guidance of head coach Rahul Dravid, RR now faces mounting pressure both on and off the field. They will next take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 24 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

A statement from the franchise on Monday stated that team management is closely monitoring Samson's progress and will decide on his participation on a game-by-game basis. As a result, Riyan Parag, who has captained the team in Samson's absence for four games, will lead the side against Rajat Patidar's RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday.
With Samson unavailable, the left-handed batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi will continue to open the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. Currently, Rajasthan Royals, the inaugural IPL champions of 2008, find themselves in eighth position on the IPL 2025 points table, with four points. They hold a slight advantage over Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad due to a better net run rate.
