Delhi riots case: Pinjra Tod activists, Jamia student get bail

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Pinjra Tod activists Devangana Kalita and Natasha Narwal and Jamia student Asif Iqbal Tanha, who were in jail for a year for their alleged role in last year's Delhi riots.

Bail is subject to personal bond of Rs 50,000 and two local sureties. Conditions for bail include the three surrendering their passports and not indulge in ant activities that could hamper the case.

Narwal and Kalita are PhD scholars at Jawaharlal Nehru University and associated with the Pinjra Tod Collective. Narwal was recently granted interim bail to attend her father's last rites.

The Delhi Police had arrested a number of students and activist for their alleged role in riots and planning the anti-CAA-NRC protest in the Capital. A number of them, including Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam and others, continue to languish in jail.
