EV batteries catching fire, GM's billion dollar recall in the United States

Beware your battery may catch fire, this is the big concern for GM as it recalls over 73,000 Bolt EVs in the United States for a cost of over 1 billion dollars.

“All Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicles are now recalled due to the risk of the high-voltage battery pack catching fire,” the company said as it issued a statement advising customers to park their Bolt EVs outside and away from buildings, as well as instructing them not to charge the vehicles overnight

This is not the first recall for the EV maker a similar action was taken last month when it discovered a defect in the battery that powers the electric vehicle.

This adds to the list of problems EV makers are having as the rage for the sustainable rides starts to be questioned. Elon Musk's Tesla is also currently under investigation for the Autopilot system's inability to identify emergency vehicles and crashing into them repeatedly.
