Former K-pop star Kris Wu arrested in China over alleged rape of a teenager

Chinese-Canadian actor, singer and model Kris Wu was arrested on Monday in China following alleged accusations of sexual assault on teenage girls.

The high-profile case unfurled after a 17-year old accused the singer of allegedly taking advantage of her while she was drunk and luring young women into sexual relationships.

Kris Wu was first accused by the teenager back in early July but he denied the accusations, stating that he will 'turn himself in' if he ever did such a thing.

After the accusation, several brands including Porsche and Bulgari have cut ties with Wu.

Wu originally shot to fame as a member of the K-pop boyband EXO, before leaving in 2014 to launch a successful solo career as a singer, actor, model and variety show judge.

The 30-year-old made his Hollywood debut in the 2017 action film 'xXx: Return of Xander Cage'.
