Frankfurt's Christmas market officially opens

'Tis the season to be jolly! Frankfurt's mayor officially opened the German city's Christmas market, counting down to switching on the lights illuminating a towering Christmas tree. Frankfurt Christmas Market will be supplemented by a Christmas market for children for the first time ever. Traditionally, a German Christmas market features stalls offering festive fare such as mulled wine, sausages and Christmas-themed decorations. The Frankfurt Christmas Market will run till the 22nd of December, expecting approximately 3 million visitors.
