      According to a new Harvard study, the number of calories you burn during rest depends on the time of the day. The natural body rhythm of 7 people, who had no clue of the time, was studied over a period of three weeks. Researchers suggest that you burn 10 percent more calories during an afternoon nap or early evening, than in the morning. The study reinstates the importance of the body clock in boosting metabolism. It also explains how disruptions in sleeping and eating patterns may lead to weight gain.
