Earlier plans of opening Assam's Kaziranga National Park on the 15th of October have been halted due to the flood situation.

Assam minister Parimal Suklabaidya said that a new date for the opening of the national park to tourists will be announced once flood waters recede and the situation improves.

This year's rainfall in the region submerged almost 85% of the park underwater.
